At-Risk Children

Parents often ask, "How do I know if my child needs
counseling?"  Counseling  helps  children with  each of  these
different  problems:

1. Is your child having difficulty adjusting to a separation or
divorce?

2. Is your child smart but he doesn't do the homework or turn
it in?

3. Does your child refuse to obey, or talk back rudely?

4. Does your child have trouble paying attention at home or
at school?

5. Does your child withdraw and refuse to discuss problems?

6. Does your child self-inflict scratches, cuts or bruises?

7. Does your child say, "I wish I was dead?"

8. Does your child yell or cry in response to minor
frustrations?

9. Is your child losing weight, gaining weight, or unable to
sleep?

10. Does your child exhibit inappropriate or out-of-control
anger towards you, siblings, teachers or acquaintances?

Counseling usually helps children who display any of these
problems.  The
Kids' Anger Book may be very helpful for
these at-risk children.
It will help them identify their emotions
and provide examples of better ways to think about their
problems.  Research shows that the earlier in life a child has
help for his/her behavior, the more successful the child is in
life.
