Richard's wife of forty years, Susan, was a registered nurse for thirty years.  
She is a certified instructor for several research-based marriage relationship
programs: PREP-the Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program; Within
Our Reach-a dynamic pre-marital and relationship enhancement class; and
Family Wellness.  She also teaches: For Kids' Sake-the divorce recovery class
for parents,
SuperParenting; and Anger Management and Battery Intervention &
Prevention classes.  In addition to teaching classes, she has over s
even years
experience in Theophostic Prayer Ministry.  She maintains the website for
Acorn
Christian Counseling.  She assists Richard with office duties.  Her
personal experiences have sensitized her to the problems of controlling parents,
post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety and depression. She has information to

for private classes and
Theophostic prayer.  


Richard L. Ward is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Marriage and
Family Therapist with over 25 years experience in private practice.  He has a
Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Missouri Southern State College in Joplin,
Missouri.  After serving in the Army in Vietnam, he earned a Master's degree in
Psychology from the University of Texas at El Paso, Texas.  He is licensed by the
Texas State Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and by the Texas Board of
Marriage and Family Therapists.  He is a member of the Christian Care Network of
the American Association of Christian Counselors.  He is certified as a clinical
supervisor by both the Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and the Board of
Marriage and Family Therapists. He is a member of AAMFT, the American
Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.  He has written several helpful

Richard's full time private practice is located in Corpus Christi, Texas.  He is a
member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and believes that
prayer is an important part of helping people grow.

Richard and his wife, Susan, have been married 40 years and have three children and
seven grandchildren. They were both raised in the Methodist Church and have been
members of Corpus Christi Christian Fellowship (a Bible-based non-denominational
church) since 1997.  Richard is an avid windsurfer and writer.  He has a passion for
the works of Charles Spurgeon, a minister from England who inspired thousands in
the late 1800's to turn from the ways of the world and seek Jesus.

Richard L. Ward, MA, LPC, LMFT

Lucy is our therapy Beagle.  She is  well-trained and loves to meet children
who come for counseling.  Lucy the therapy Beagle is enthusiastic and
friendly.  Clients enjoy petting and feeding her and training Lucy to do her
tricks.  She helps people to relax, feel secure and be more confident. She
of criticism and the joy of unconditional love. Training pets is an effective of
criticism and the joy of unconditional love. Training pets is an effective
method of learning positive reinforcement, a highly successful parenting
and relationship skill.  

Lucy is a graduate of Master Trainer Company.  She attended Obedience
Boot Camp for 10 days followed by one month of training with her owners.
She has distinguished herself as a cheerful, cooperative dog who loves
people.  Emotionally, she is like a toddler, and requires a lot of supervision
and love on our part!

She plays well with children and comforts them when they are stressed.  
Lucy only visits the office when children ask to meet her or she appears in
class for training demonstrations.
